Signs of Midlife

Have you reached midlife?

Everyone's life is unique, so it’s personal what age you think the middle stage of your life occurs. Anywhere between 35 & 70! It really doesn’t matter, it’s all about how you feel and think.

Do you still feel as youthful inside now as you did in your twenties, but with so much more knowledge and confidence that you crave new excitement?

Are you seeking positivity in a world of depressing news headlines and social media posts?

Have you always wanted to travel or be adventurous but ended up living a ‘normal life’ and these passions now seem like distant dreams due to family, work and all the other commitments you have?

Have you recently spoken with someone under 21 and thought “I actually don’t understand a word you just said”?

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

What is a Midlife Crisis

A Midlife crisis is a period when individuals reevaluate their lives, acknowledge their accomplishments and limitations, and come to terms with any past regrets. This can affect one's self-identity and confidence, causing some to feel emotionally low, while others seek new fulfillment and excitement.

A Midlife crisis can be triggered by various significant factors, such as relationship problems, the loss of a loved one, boredom, or a major life event. Additionally, we start noticing changes in our bodies, including hormonal shifts, more frequent aches and pains, and quicker fatigue.

Any of these issues can significantly impact people's lives.

Midlifers deserve to be positive and happy

If you google ‘Midlife’, 90% of the websites either talk about having a Midlife crisis or offer Midlife support.

With life being so hectic and demanding, it’s understandable that we may feel overwhelmed at times and struggle. Many people experience significant challenges and it's important to seek help and support. Issues related to relationships, family, finances, and mental & physical health are especially present during Midlife. Sharing and discussing Midlife problems is improving, but there is still some awkwardness and stigma attached to them, which we need to break down by just talking openly.

We are also surrounded by negativity and depressing stories every day, from news events to social media. Although most of this is ‘real life’, it can become very depressing.

However, most people are not in a state of crisis for their entire Midlife, so it’s equally important that we enjoy ourselves, laugh, and do adventurous things. Waiting until retirement and hoping we are still fit and healthy is not the answer.
